Damp-Chaser storage dehumidifiers can be used to gently warm and dehumidify storage spaces (such as cupboards and wardrobes) or wherever there is damp, stagnant air, without any risk of burning or scorching clothes, paper or equipment.

Dampp-Chaser storage dehumidifiers are very simple, safe and effective, low surface temperature (LST) tubular heater rods that can be fastened to the floor or skirting boards in wardrobes, cupboards, closets and other enclosed storage spaces wherever there is damp, stagnant, air to provide a gentle background circulation of warm air.

This effectively helps to prevent:

  • the germination of mould spores that causes mould and mildew and can trigger allergy symptoms
  • rust and corrosion that can damage clothing, papers and equipment, and
  • clothing from becoming damp and smelling musty

The low heat output means they are very economical to run - less than 4p per day for the smallest model, and 13p per day for the largest - and so can be left on continuously if wished, or used in conjunction with a plug-in timer where occasional use is sufficient.

Manufactured since 1947 by the Damp-Chaser corporation, USA, and originally designed (and still used) for dehumidifying pianos, Dampp-Chasers are widely used all over the world for protecting items positioned or stored in areas or closed spaces where air cannot circulate freely. For example, clothes and fabrics stored in wardrobes or cupboards; documents and archive collections, electronic equipment cabinets. They are also used in boats, caravans and vintage cars to keep them aired during winter storage.
